Welcome to the Offshore Wind Data Research Center (OWDRC) – Vietnam’s dedicated hub for data, analysis, and scientific research supporting the development of the offshore wind energy sector.
As Vietnam harnesses the vast potential of offshore wind energy to meet its growing energy demands, ensure energy security, and fulfill its climate change commitments (such as the targets outlined in Power Development Plan 8 – PDP8), access to accurate, reliable data and in-depth research becomes paramount. Decisions involving marine spatial planning, multi-billion dollar investments, engineering design, environmental impact assessments, and grid stability all depend on a solid foundation of information.
The Offshore Wind Data Research Center was established to address this critical need. Our mission is to:
- Systematically collect and manage crucial meteorological, oceanographic, geological, environmental, and engineering data related to offshore wind.
- Conduct independent, objective research and analysis to enhance understanding and identify the industry’s opportunities and challenges.
- Develop advanced tools and models to support resource assessment, energy yield forecasting, and the optimization of design and operation.
- Provide reliable information and knowledge to policymakers, investors, project developers, and the research community.
